Forum for Contemplative Practices

The CCSU Campus of Compassion campaign was first suggested by members of The Forum that emphasizes the value of contemplative practices as one means to build a more just, peaceful and compassionate world.

The Office of Community Engagement is at the center of many of the service learning opportunities that benefit the city of New Britain and the wider region.

A major project of the Office of Community Engagement, Community Central is located in downtown New Britain. It provides opportunities for every CCSU student to engage in his or her community in meaningful ways.

Department of Psychological Science Compassionate Community Award

The "Developing a Compassionate Community" award provides an opportunity to apply the principles of psychology in a way that will enhance and better the community.

CCSU Sandwich Heros

Sandwich Hero Project

Every month a different group of CCSU students, faculty, or staff gathers together at the Newman Center to make 150 sandwiches for the homeless people that fill the South Park Inn shelter every night.

Image Above - Congratulations and thank you to the SUOAF Sandwich Heroes who completed 170 sandwiches for the South Park Inn shelter on March 22, 2017 in a record breaking time of 33 minutes -  giving credence to the saying that "many hands make light work."

Hearts and Minds without Fear

Based on the title of their book, CCSU Professors Barbara Clark and Joss French work with preservice teachers in elementary education using an authentic compassionate community based paradigm of teaching and learning.
